APM picks national chairman as presidential candidate; expels six NWC members

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has announced its national chairman Yusuf Dantalle as its flag bearer for the 2023 elections.

Oyedeyi Ayodele, the party’s national secretary in a statement on Thursday, said Mr Dantalle, who was the sole presidential candidate of the party, was overwhelmingly elected by delegates in the primary held at the party’s national secretariat, Abuja on Wednesday June 8, 2022.

He also mentioned that six of its national working committee members who were under suspension and three state chairmen have been expelled for gross anti-party activities which it claimed brought the party to ridicule and disrepute.

Mr Adebayo said the expulsion was pronounced during the party’s special convention during which its national chairman.

Those expelled from the party are; Rose D.S. Gyar forrmer national treasurer; Nasir Baba former national financial secretary; Abubakar Ahmed national welfare officer.

Others are Rowland Inyama South-East; Felix Idowu- national youth leader; Nasir Mohammed: Sidi Aliyu – national publicity officer; Abram Gyabo- Nasarawa State Chairman; Thomas Akosu – former FCT Chairman and Nuhu Soba – former Kaduna State Chairman.

He said “the party immediately replaced those expelled with new set of people who will henceforth run the affairs of the party at various levels.

“APM equally set up a five-man committee to investigate its finances, that is, the party’s expenditure and income.

“Part of the responsibilities of the five-man committee is to review and amend the party’s constitution to equip it for future elections.

“The delegates also set up a seven-man committee to plan the party’s national convention at a later date when new officers will be elected to chart the way forward”, said Mr Adebayo.
