Arsenal maintain stay atop EPL table with win against Villa

Arsenal beat Aston Villa 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium in the midweek English Premier League game to maintain their top spot on the EPL log.

The Gunners got a deserved victory with dominant display which saw them trump Aston villa on all critical match statistics. With 60 per cent of the ball, the highflying London side fired nine shots on target as against Villa’s three.

Gabriel Jesus continued his blistering start to life at the Emirates with another goal on the 30th minute.

Villa went into first half break behind home team, but returned into the second half with better resolve.

For the second time this season, Douglas Luiz scored directly from a corner, levelling up for Villa in 74th minute. 

Arsenal however bounced back barely three minutes later to retake the lead through a Gabriel Martinelli shot.

The Gunners’ perfect start to the season leaves them sitting pretty atop the Premier League, with maximum 15 points from five wins.

Manchester City, Arsenal’s closest challenger, have garnered 13 points from the same number of matches.


City mauled Nottingham Forest 6-0 on Wednesday. 

New talisman Erling Haaland netted his second consecutive hat-trick.Julian Alvarez scored a brace, while Joao Cancelo got one goal.
