Arsenal top EPL, share spoils with Liverpool at Anfield
Two title-chasers, Arsenal and Liverpool, shared points, playing a 1-1 draw in the English Premier League on Saturday at Anfield.
Arsenal and Liverpool, ranking first and second on the EPL table, respectively, came into the game playing hard for maximum points.
Visiting Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal took early advantage, taking the lead barely four minutes into the game as Gabriel Magalhães buried a header into Liverpool’s net.
Jurgen Klopp’s side responded quickly, pushing hard for an equaliser. Egyptian striker Mo Salah pulled an equaliser for Liverpool in the 28th minute, firing a brilliant shot into Arsenal’s net after beating Zinchenko.
Both sides went into the first-half break with a goal each, leaving visiting and home fans with expectations from their respective clubs.
The second half featured interesting actions as both teams pushed hard to grab a winner, but the two teams could not find the back of the net.
With points shared, Arsenal still sit atop EPL log into Christmas break with 40 points.
Liverpool are second on the log with 39 points, a point behind Arsenal,
Villa are third with 39 points but behind Liverpool on goal difference.
