Armed bandits have invaded a village in Kano, opening fire on the locals. The gunmen kidnapped a 60-year-old man during the raid. At least two villagers were reportedly wounded.

The village is in Gangarbi village of Rano local council in Kano, according to the Nigeria Police Force.

In a telephone interview on Tuesday, police commissioner Manman Dauda said the attack occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

He said the police received the information that the bandits stormed Gangarbi village and kidnapped the 60-year-old Na’ayya Gangarbi.

Mr Dauda said a combined team of the divisional patrol, JTF and anti-kidnap squad immediately rushed to the scene.

The police chief explained that two persons shot by the bandits, Maskuru Ukaisha on his right leg and Salisu Ibrahim on his left shoulder, were taken to Rogo General Hospital.

“Well-armed security personnel and other tactical teams, along with vigilante group members, have been deployed to the area to ensure the successful rescue of the victims,” the police commissioner stated.

He said an investigation had commenced to apprehend the abductors and rescue the victims.
