At least six Nigerian soldiers have been killed after armed bandits stormed a village in Suleja, a suburb of Abuja governed by Niger State, on Monday night.

Witnesses said the bandits were raiding agrarian communities a few kilometres from Zuma Barracks when soldiers were deployed from the barracks to intervene. Six of them were killed in action while several others were injured.

Our witnesses spoke under anonymity because they live in the barracks and witnessed the arrival of remains of the slain soldiers.
