The police command in Bauchi has arrested two vigilantes for raping a housewife at gunpoint in Dogon-ruwa village in the Ningi local government area.

The command spokesman, Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday in Bauchi.

He said the Ningi Police Division was alerted by the woman’s husband of the incident.

Mr Wakil said the two suspects, Lawali Sule and Babangida Shehu, both members of a vigilance group in Dogon-ruwa village, were later arrested by detectives.

He said the incident occurred on Thursday, at about 2:00 a.m., when the two suspects conspired and stormed the woman’s home armed with Dane guns.
