The Anambra beach soccer board has been inaugurated in Nnewi with Victor Madubuko, an American-based professor as chairman and Chukwudi Orizu, a former deputy speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, as vice chairman.

Other members of the board are Ezeakukwu Nsoedo (Secretary general), Kingsley Nwagba (Coach/techincal director), Okwudili Emmanuel (Media officer), Prisca Ogugua (Welfare officer), and Chukwuka Fidelis (Assistant coach).

The new board members took their oath of office which was administered by seasoned instructor, Sunday Okai.

Mr Okai charged the new board members to do their jobs with passion and work towards the success of beach soccer in Anambra.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Madubuko, chairman of the association, said he believed that he had some of the best hands as board members, pledging that the team would achieve great things.

“Our aim is to bring Beach Soccer development in Anambra State, especially in schools and female categories. We promise not to disappoint as we are ready to deliver,” he said.

In his opening remarks, Victor Kadiri, representative of Nigeria Beach Soccer League, assured the board of support from the national body.

He said the support would fast track the development of beach soccer in Anambra and Nigeria in general.

An exhibition match was later played at the Moonshine Residence, Nnewi, to announce the arrival of beach soccer in Anambra.

It would be recalled that the Nigeria Beach Soccer League organised an extensive seminar on beach soccer for players, coaches and referees on the basics of beach soccer and its numerous benefits.
