Popular reggae artist Joseph ‘Jo Mersa’ Marley, the grandson of legendary musician, Bob Marley, is dead following reports of health complications.

He was 31.

The Jamaica-born musician is said to have been found lifeless in a vehicle in the United States, where he was residing until his death.

His death was confirmed by an unnamed representative to American magazine, Rolling Stone, on Tuesday.

Although there is no official confirmation of the cause of Joseph’s death at the time of filing this report, popular hip hop newspaper, TMZ quoted sources as saying he died due to asthma-related conditions.

Joseph Marley is the eldest son of eight-time Grammy-winner Stephen Marley and second grandchild of reggae legend Bob Marley.

He was born in Kingston, Jamaica, where he spent the early years of his childhood before moving to Florida in the United States at 11 to attend Palmetto High School and Miami Dade College, where he studied studio engineering.

In 2014, Joseph made his releasing debut through iTunes and Spotify with an EP titled ‘Comfortable’ and went on to feature on a Grammy-winning album ‘Strictly Roots’ by Morgan Heritage.
