Borno: Gov Zulum reaffirms commitment to security, resettlement

Governor Babagana Zulum has reassured commitment to security and the resettlement of those who were displaced by the insurgents. He gave the reassurance in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, and made it available to newsmen in Maiduguri on Wednesday.
The governor, who is currently on pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, urged Muslims to emulate the virtues of sacrifice as exemplified by Prophet Abraham.
Mr Zulum said the festive period served as a reminder for Muslims to recommit themselves to supporting the less privileged and promoting the values of love, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
He further reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to sustaining peace and security across Borno, particularly in the resettled communities.
“We will continue to work very closely with the military and other security agencies, as well as volunteer forces, to ensure peace and tranquillity prevail in our communities. My administration’s commitment to security is second to none,” the governor said.
He, however, pledged to intensify efforts toward community resettlement and economic empowerment for vulnerable citizens.
“I want to assure you that more communities will be resettled before the end of our administration, Insha Allah (God willing). We will continue to roll out empowerment initiatives to vulnerable and displaced persons to become productive members of society,” Mr Zulum said.
The governor also reassured citizens of his administration’s resolve to complete ongoing developmental projects across the state before his tenure expires. He commended the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress for the peaceful and successful conduct of the party’s primary elections across the state.
“The recently conducted primary election by our great political party, the APC, from the state constituency to the presidential level, demonstrated unity and solidarity among aspirants, leaders, and members without any rancour, underscoring cohesion in the party,” Mr Zulum said.
The governor, therefore, called on Nigerians to continue praying for sustainable peace in Borno and Nigeria.
