The police in Ile-Ife arraigned a 27-year-old man, Ayoola Famoriyo, at the magistrates’ court for allegedly breaking in and stealing barbing salon equipment.

On Thursday, the prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Osanyintuyi alleged that the defendant committed the offence on Monday around 6:30 a.m. at No 3, Line 2, Mbabi Mbayo area of Ile-Ife.

Mr Osanyintuyi said the defendant broke into the barbing salon of one Alao Oluwabunmi, intending to commit a felony, to wit, entering and stealing.

He added that the defendant stole one big Binatone standing fan, one big generator, one home theatre, one Chaoba hair clipper and one pair of sandals.

”All were totally valued at N171,000 and are the property of Oluwabunmi,” the police officer said.

The prosecutor stated further that the offence was contrary to and punishable under sections 383, 390(9) and 412 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The defendant, a bricklayer, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of breaking, entering and stealing.

Magistrate O.T. Badmus later granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N300,000, with one surety in like amount.

Mr Badmus said the surety must swear to an affidavit of means, reside within the court jurisdiction, and be gainfully employed.

“The surety must also provide a three-year tax clearance certificate, as well as means of Nigerian identification,” he added.
