Bruce Willis to retire from acting after aphasia diagnosis

The 67-year-old actor was diagnosed with aphasia, a language disorder that affects a person’s ability to communicate.

American actor Bruce Willis is set to retire from acting after nearly three decades in the industry, due to aphasia diagnosis.

The family of the popular “Die Hard” star made the shocking announcement via their Instagram pages, today March 31, 2022.

“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities,” read the announcement in parts.

“As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”

The family asked for compassion and support for the “challenging time.”

“As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we plan to do just that,” the statement signed by the actor’s wife Emma Heming-Wilis and others added.

The 67-year-old actor was diagnosed with aphasia, a language disorder that affects a person’s ability to communicate.

Bruce is best known for playing John McClane in the iconic 1998 Die Hard franchise which brought him to the limelight as an action star, after years as a comedic TV actor, specifically in the series Moonlighting (1985-89), for which he won an Emmy in 1987. He also won an Emmy in 2000 for a guest role on Friends.
