Buhari appoints Antonia Simbine new NISER director-general
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Antonia Simbine as Director-General of Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER).
A statement by the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Sufuyan Ojeifo, on Friday in Abuja, said the appointment takes effect from June 1.
Ms Simbine will succeed outgoing Director-General Folarin Gbadebo-Smith, whose tenure expires on May 31.
A professor of Political Science and International Relations, Ms Simbine currently heads the Knowledge Management Development Department in the institute.
With her appointment, Ms Simbine becomes the first woman to be appointed director-general of the nation’s apex research institute.
