Buhari, Sanwo-Olu, Faleke mourn late APC women leader Nelson

Mrs Nelson, born on February 9, 1956, died on Sunday aged 66.

Condolences have poured in over the demise of Kemi Nelson, an influential leader of women in the All Progressives Congress (APC), who died on Sunday.

In a statement, President Muhammadu Buhari commiserated with the Nelson family, the government and people of Lagos State, presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu, and the Lagos APC family on the loss of the frontline politician.

Mr Buhari described the deceased as “a consistent and faithful party member who devoted so much to the evolution, development, sustenance and relevance of the party in Lagos and around the country.”

On his own part, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State described the death of Mrs Nelson as a great loss to Lagos State, especially the ruling party, considering her unique position as one of the great mobilisers in the party.

Mrs Nelson is a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), of the APC. GAC is the apex leadership body of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Sanwo-Olu said this in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile.

He said that the late Lagos APC Women Leader was a ”passionate, trustworthy, committed, extremely loyal politician, leader, women advocate and an invaluable asset to APC and Lagos State.”

Also, James Faleke, member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, expressed sadness and shock over the death.

Mr Faleke in a condolence message on Sunday in Lagos, said the death of Mrs Nelson was not only a big loss to Ikeja Local Government Area and Lagos State but to the entire progressives family and the nation.

The deceased, an apex leader of Ikeja LGA was also a former commissioner in Lagos State.

Mrs Nelson, born on February 9, 1956, died aged 66.
