Buhari sends Secondary Education Commission Bill to Senate

The bill seeks to enforce standards and provide federal government intervention to reposition senior secondary education.

President Muhammadu Buhari has transmitted the National Senior Secondary School Education Commission Bill to the National Assembly for consideration.

The bill was accompanied by a letter read by Senate President Ahmad Lawan at plenary on Tuesday.

Mr Buhari said in the letter that the request for the passage of the bill was made under Section 58(2) of the 1999 Constitution as amendedd.

He said the bill seeks to enforce standards and provide federal government intervention to reposition senior secondary education in Nigeria.

Mr Buhari, in another letter, requested the Senate to pass the Federal University of Health Sciences Oturkpo, Benue Bill 2021.

He said the bill, which had also been transmitted to the National Assembly for consideration, sought to establish the Federal University of Health Sciences Oturkpo.
