President Muhammadu Buhari will inaugurate seven “legacy” projects completed by the federal ministry of works and housing across the country on Tuesday.

President’s media aide Femi Adesina confirmed this in a statement on Monday.

The projects were in line with Mr Buhari regime’s determination to upgrade and expand the nation’s infrastructure stock, said the statement.

According to the statement, the projects comprised three major bridges, three federal secretariats and a road.

The inauguration will be headlined by the Second Niger Bridge, conceptualised in 2005.

The statement noted that in 2014 there was an attempt to begin the project through a public-private partnership, but this was unsuccessful.

It, however, revealed that the construction work began in 2016 with the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF).

The statement disclosed that other projects to be inaugurated by the president included the Loko-Oweto Bridge across River Benue to link Benue to Nasarawa and the Ikom Bridge in Cross River. The road project is the completed section of the over 200km of the Kano-Kaduna dual carriage expressway and three new federal secretariats.

It explained that the federal secretariat at Awka, located at Executive Business District Layout, Awka South LGA in Anambra. The project was first awarded on December 9, 2011. It was completed and taken over by the works and housing ministry on July 14, 2022.

There is also the federal secretariat in Gusau, Zamfara, located at Unguwan Dan Lawan, off Sokoto bypass. The ministry completed and took over it on November 30, 2022.

The third secretariat to be inaugurated is the federal secretariat in Yenagoa, located at Alamieyeseigha Road in Bayelsa, which was awarded on December 9, 2011, and completed on November 30, 2022.

In February, Mr Buhari inaugurated the federal secretariat in Lafia, located at Bukar Sidi along Jos Road, Lafia, Nasarawa.
