A Shari’a Court sitting at Rigasa, Kaduna on Wednesday sentenced Haruna Sule, a butcher, to three months in a correctional facility for stealing a goat worth N25,000.

The judge, Salisu Abubakar-Tureta, made the ruling after the accused pleaded guilty to the offence bordering on theft.

Mr Abubakar-Tureta, however, gave the convict an option of N10,000 fine and ordered him to pay N25,000 as compensation to the nominal complainant, Shafa’atu Lawal.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Sambo Maigari, said that the complainant reported the matter to the Rigasa Police division on March 15 saying her goat was missing.

“She reported that one Sule, a butcher, who  resides at Mallam Niga Road, Rigasa stole her goat worth N25,000 slaughtered and sold it,” he said.
