CAN urges Nasarawa residents to participate in ongoing voter registration

The Nasarawa State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged eligible residents of the state to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
The association made the call in a communique issued at the end of the State Executive Council meeting on Saturday in Lafia.
The communique was issued by Sunday Emmah, the chairman of CAN in the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had commenced the online pre-registration for the CVR on August 18. Physical and biometric capturing will commence on August 25.
The chairman said the exercise would offer eligible citizens the opportunity to vote in future elections, hence deciding the fate of those seeking to govern them.
“As citizens, the PVC is your power, so those who are eligible should participate in the CVR in order to have their PVCs and participate actively during elections,” he advised.
On the security situation, Mr Emmah condemned the attacks, killings, and wanton destruction of properties in Benue, Plateau, and some parts of Nasarawa State.
He urged the federal government and the security agencies to urgently address the situation.
“The government and the security agencies should rise to the occasion and address the spate of kidnapping, banditry, terrorism, and other heinous crimes in Nasarawa State and beyond,” he stated.
The chairman commended the federal government for addressing the hardship in the country through positive economic reforms.
He expressed joy over the drastic reduction in the prices of foodstuffs nationwide, insisting that the move had brought relief to many Nigerians.
Mr Emmah, however, called on the government to address the rising costs of farm inputs, building materials, and other household items.
The chairman advised Nigerians to utilise various social media platforms to promote peaceful coexistence and harmony within their communities.
He commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his all-inclusive leadership style in Nasarawa State.
