The National Population Commission (NPC) has demarcated 3,230 localities to be included in the ‘Compendium of Localities’ for the success of the 2023 population and housing census.

NPC federal commissioner for Zamfara, Muhammad Mutta-Rini, stated this on Monday at a two-day ‘State Level Compendium of Localities’ workshop in Gusau.

The workshop is organised to finalise work on the list of the localities identified during the commission’s Enumeration Area Demarcation(EAD) in the state.

The final list of localities of EAD would form part of the compendium to guide the 2023 National Population and Housing Census.

Mr Muttaka-Rini said participants drawn from various sectors would compile the localities identified during the EAD exercise. He stated that the list would identify the localities based on local government areas.

Mr Muttaka-Rini commended the stakeholders for their support during the EAD exercise, where 3,230 localities were demarcated in the state.

“The commission especially commends the state government, local government authorities, traditional institutions, the media, and other stakeholders for their support during the Enumeration Area Demarcation and efforts to deliver more data for the locality level,” he said.
