Uche Nnaji, the minister for innovation, science and technology, who is currently in the midst of a major scandal after he used a forged National Youth Service Corps certificate to secure confirmation as a minister, says he is committed to President Bola Tinubu’s power initiatives.

“… to further our commitment to enhancing solar and renewable energy, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hecate Energy for 200 MW of solar power in Abuja Tech City and partnered with other stakeholders to drive the initiative for hydrogen fuel-cell technology,” Mr Nnaji said in a statement on social media on Saturday.

Like his principal Mr Tinubu, who was embroiled in certificate forging scandal after it was confirmed that he submitted fake Chicago State University diploma to the Independent National Electoral Commission whilst filling paperworks for the 2023 presidential election, Mr Nnaji is the newest subject connected to the current addition caught up in the web of forging scandals.

Speaking further, Mr Nnaji said sufficient energy is one of Mr Tinubu priorities as the current administration seeks to achieve stable energy through various initiatives. Since Mr Tinub assumed office in 2023, the national grid has collapsed more than 10 times.

“Unlocking energy and natural resources is a key priority for H.E. our Dear President @officialasiwajubat. At @FmstNg, we drive sustainable energy through various initiatives, including solar power expansion, biogas production, and the release of energy-efficient device prototypes,” the statement said.

“These efforts aim to transform our nation’s energy landscape and are led by the Energy Commission of Nigeria @energygovng with contributions from the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency @nbrda_ng. Here are a few diverse energy projects underway and achieved.

“This holistic energy strategy includes developing prototypes for various energy solutions, such as 1kW Solar PV generators, small-hydro turbines, and permanent magnet generators, as well as deploying small-hydro turbines for communities and SMEs.

“These innovations are key to boosting energy access and sustainability. They demonstrate our unwavering commitment to providing a comprehensive approach to improving energy access and efficiency for our nation.”
