The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry has hailed the courage, selfless service, and unwavering dedication of Nigeria’s Armed Forces even amid daunting challenges.

The ACCI President, Emeka Obegolu, said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja to mark the Armed forces Remembrance Day.

The day is celebrated every January 15 to honour Nigeria’s fallen heroes and veterans.

Mr Obegolu said, ‘‘Women and men of our Armed Forces have given their lives to protect and preserve our nation, our democracy and our way of life. They have incurred injuries and placed themselves in harm’s way to ensure that schools, markets, religious institutions, and business are able to remain open and function. They have helped in our safety and freedom as a nation. They are patriots and deserve our respect, honour and support. The chamber remains an Armed Forces Friendly Institution and today, as always, we pray that God protects our troops.”

The ACCI president acknowledged the difficulties and heartbreak suffered by families whose loved ones die in service to our fatherland.

Mr Obegolu, therefore, called on the nation to support those families and honour the memory of their loved ones.

“As our Armed Forces continue to lay their lives on the line to protect our nation and defeat our enemies, we will continue to honour, support and encourage them and their families,” he said.
