After weeks of haggling, Manchester United and Chelsea have agreed on a deal for England midfielder Mason Mount.

The Chelsea midfielder turned down a new deal with the club and has been linked with a move since the transfer market opened.

Mason Mount struggled to replicate his form from previous seasons for Chelsea last season, especially during his first season under Frank Lampard.

The England international has been on the Red Devils’ radar for weeks, and Chelsea had turned down three bids.

However, according to latest reports, Manchester United and Chelsea have finalised a deal for the outstanding midfielder.

Chelsea rejected three approaches from Manchester United, the most recent of which was for £50 million plus £5 million.

Chelsea were demanding a bid of £58 million plus £7 million in add-ons, with United stating unequivocally that they will not go above their third offer.

However, according to Romano Fabrizio on Twitter, “Manchester United agreed a £60 million package deal with Chelsea for Mason Mount.” It’s finished; let’s go!

“Personal terms agreed upon weeks ago, as well as face-to-face meetings between clubs, made it clear: the agreement is complete.” Mount joined United and never left the race.”

The deal is the latest in Chelsea’s end of season players clear out as they seek to rebuild the team under new manager Mauricio Pochetinno after finishing in a woeful 12th position in the Premier League this season.

Recent departures include experienced defender Kalidou Koulibaly, goalkeeper Édouard Mendy, winger Hakim Ziyech and midfielder Mateo Kovacic, silky German forward Kai Havertz, talismanic midfielder N’golo Kante and serial loanee Tiemoue  Bakayoko. Many more are waiting on the wing to leave the club.
