China says it is deeply shocked and strongly condemns the alleged killing of more than 100 Palestinians in an Israeli attack while they were waiting for aid in Gaza.

Mao Ning, foreign ministry spokesperson, made the remarks on Friday in response to reports of Israeli forces opening fire on a crowd of Palestinians waiting for aid in Gaza City.

More than 760 persons were also reportedly wounded during the alleged attack on Thursday.

“We mourn for the victims and express our sympathies to the injured,” Mr Mao said at a news conference.

He urged all parties concerned, especially Israel, to immediately cease fire and stop fighting.

Mr Mao said there was a need to earnestly protect the safety of civilians, ensure humanitarian access, and avoid further humanitarian disasters.
