Bobai Tanko, an associate pastor of the Evangelical Church of Christ Winning All (ECWA), Sabon Tasha, Kaduna, on Monday urged Christians to resist indulgence in immoral acts at Christmas.

He observed at the church’s Christmas service that some Christians used the festive period to indulge in sexual immorality, drunkenness and irresponsible acts such as reckless driving.

“Such acts do not reflect the essence of Christmas,” said Mr Tanko.

“Unfortunately, some will be initiated into evil acts; some will lodge in hotels to engage in immoral acts and end up with unwanted pregnancies in the name of celebrating Christmas.”

He added, “Christmas is not a day for drunkenness or sexual escapades.’’

Mr Tanko charged the congregants to be circumspect in all their decisions and to surrender their lives to God.

He reiterated that the birth of Jesus Christ brought salvation to the world, adding that Christmas should be a day of reconciliation and celebration with loved ones.

The cleric implored the congregants to conduct themselves properly and show kindness by helping the indigent.

“Be wise in taking decisions that will help you to grow and not destroy you,’’ Mr Tanko charged.
