Ckay’s ‘Love Nwantiti’ makes history as Spotify’ most streamed African song

In 2021, the now ‘TikTok anthem’ became the most Shazamed song worldwide.

Trendy jam ‘Love Nwantiti’ by fast-rising Nigerian singer Ckay has again broken record to become the first African song to surpass 400 million streams on Spotify.

Since its release on August 29, 2019, ‘Love Nwantiti’, the second track off Ckays second extended play, ‘Ckay The First’ keeps breaking records.

Last December, it was streamed over 250 million times, making it the first among African songs.

In 2021, the now ‘TikTok anthem’ became the most Shazamed song worldwide.

It also amounted to over 1.4 billion YouTube views, overtaking the likes of afrobeat stars Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.

In January 2022, ‘Love Nwantiti’ was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), indicating that the song made over 500,000 unit sales.

The hit song has become a subject for collaboration from local and international artistes.
