Commercial motorcyclist arrested for raping two women in Ondo

The suspect diverted into a bush, attacked and raped his victims on different occasions.

The Police in Ondo have arrested 23-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Ola Omogunwa, for allegedly raping two women at different locations in the state.

Spokesperson of the police in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, disclosed while parading the suspect, along with two others on Tuesday in Akure.

“On October 17, at about 1:00 p.m., Omogunwa (suspect) conveyed a 35-year-old victim at Elebisere road en route Karo camp, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo state, where he brutalised, raped, robbed and left her for dead.

“The suspect diverted into a bush, attacked and raped the victim. He punctured her eyes with his motorcycle key after tying her to a tree,” the police spokesperson said.

She said the suspect made away with the victim’s N1,800, phone, necklace and other valuables.

According to Ms Odunlami-Omisanya, the suspect was later arrested based on an intelligence report and all the stolen items were recovered from him.

Similarly, Ms Odunlami-Omisanya said the suspect allegedly raped a 45-year-old woman on March 28, along Owobanbo road, before his arrest.

“The suspect, using the same modus operandi before he was arrested, robbed and raped a 45-year-old woman on March 28 along Owobanbo road.

“After beating the victim to a coma, the suspect raped her, inflicted injuries on her body and also robbed her of N112,000.

The police said the suspect has confessed to the crimes and will soon be charged to court.
