Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Ondo State, said the government will swiftly repair the administrative section and pavilion destroyed by a rainstorm at the state sports complex.

A rainstorm caused by a downpour on Wednesday destroyed the administrative section housing the accounting department and the pavilion meant for spectators at the sports council.

Yusuf-Ogunleye gave the assurance while speaking with reporters at the Ondo State Sports Complex on Friday in Akure.

He said the government would not waste time repairing the damaged roof of the administrative section and pavilion.

“I will immediately brief the governor about the situation. I can assure you that we will move swiftly to repair the damaged section of the council.

“The rainstorm affected nearly all the structures; you can see the main hall. The administrative section that houses the accounting department, even the pavilion where spectators sit to watch matches, was not spared.

“The league is still ongoing, and we have home matches here; we are up to the task; the place will be given a face-lift without delay,” he said.

Yusuf-Ogunleye urged workers not to be deterred by the incident and to continue to give their best to achieve better results.
