An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of one Sunday Okonkwo at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on Tuesday for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.

Police prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, had told the court that Okonkwo allegedly committed the offence sometime in 2022 at Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos.

He said Mr Okonkwo had carnal knowledge of the minor without her consent; an offence which he said contravened the Criminal Laws of Lagos State (2015).

Presiding Chief Magistrate Ejiro Kubeinje did not take Mr Okonkwo’s plea before ordering the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.

He adjourned the case until February 6.

The offence is punishable by life imprisonment according to Lagos State laws.
