Court remands plumber over alleged theft
A Dutse Magistrates’ Court in Abuja has remanded a 42-year-old plumber, Abubakar Adaji, in prison over alleged theft.
The police charged the defendant of Galadimawa village, Abuja, with joint act, cheating and theft.
The Magistrate, Abdullahi Ilelah, however adjourned the matter until September 30 for hearing.
Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that the complainant, Abah Martins reported the matter at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Dei-dei on Aug.31.
Mr Olanipekun alleged that the defendant conspired with two others at large and cheated the complainant of cement worth N1.6 million sometime in 2023.
He added that the defendant and his accomplice entered the complainant’s shop again at Guidna village on August 31, and ordered 60 bags of cement to pay after delivery but was caught in the process.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 79, 322 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
