A magistrates’ court in Abeokuta on Friday sentenced a teenager, Ayomide Oguntoyinbo, to two weeks of community service for breaking into a house and stealing foodstuffs.

The magistrate, O.O Odumosu, sentenced the teenager after he pleaded guilty to break-in and theft.

Ms Odumosu ordered the convict to serve the sentence on the court premises daily from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m..

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, ASP Olakunle Shonibare, told the court that Mr Oguntoyinbo committed the offence on May 19 at 8:00 a.m. at No 1 Road F-2 Oorun village in Idi-Ori, Abeokuta.

Mr Shonibare said Mr Oguntoyinbo broke into Falicia Ajibade’s house and stole foodstuff and other valuables, all worth N300,000.

He said the teenager stole rice, beans, peak milk, palm oil, vegetable oil, spaghetti, baby clothes, a solar panel, and one Android phone.

Ms Shonibare said the security guards caught the teenager and handed him to the police.

He said the offence contravened sections 412 and 390 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.
