The Iya Aladura General of the New Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Dr Oluwaseye Yomi-Sholoye, said seeking divine direction for leaders through prayers will help them to do better.

Ms Yomi-Sholoye made the assertion on Saturday at a press conference in Lagos to herald the 2024 Annual General Conference of the New Cherubim and Seraphim.

The cleric said that Nigerians should pray more for their leaders for divine direction to tackle the current economic hardship.

The conference held at the headquarters of the Faith Mission, Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Satellite Town, Ojo, was, among other things, aimed at encouraging evangelism and humanitarian works from members for repositioning of the church established almost 100 years ago.

Ms Yomi-Sholoye, who is also the Founder of the Faith Mission, called on governments to do more to tackle insecurity to save lives and property.

According to her, banditry and insurgency are tarnishing the image of the country and could discourage foreign investment.

She stated, “Government should do more on security and make policies that will make life easier for the populace. As a people, we should imbibe the habit of praying for our leaders for divine direction.’’

She said that the Cherubim and Seraphim Church worldwide would celebrate 100 years of its existence in 2025 and was desirous of a large and united congregation operating on the doctrines of Jesus Christ as exhibited by the Founder, Saint Moses Orimolade.

“Eminent seraphs, the centenary celebration affords us the opportunity to take stock and make necessary reforms in the management of the church with a view to advancing and winning souls. Some of the reform tools we are going to be implementing are ones that will make the church people-friendly,” she said.

The theme of the annual conference to be held on May 16 and May 17 is “Approaching Cherubim and Seraphim Centenary:  Shaping the Future.”

It will be held at the church’s prayer ground on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
