Governor Caleb Mutfwang has urged youths to prevent being used by “dishonourable” people to cause violence and destabilise Plateau.

The governor made the plea during a state broadcast on Monday.
“To my dear youths, I urge you not to allow people with unexplained wealth instigate you into violence,” he said. “These are people who hold positions of honour but are actually dishonourable. Unfortunately, their ill-gotten wealth has not brought them the honour they seek, which is why they are determined to destabilise our beloved state.”

Mr Mutfwang reiterated his commitment to addressing the sponsors of chaos in Plateau, stating, “Consequently security agencies are investigating various leads to track down the sponsors of crime and to promptly deal with any criminal tendencies.”

His broadcast followed recent political tension and uncertainty in Plateau.

In a recent unanimous tribunal ruling by a three-member panel led by Justice Mohammed Tukur that declared some PDP members ineligible to contest elections in the 2023 general elections.

The lawmakers affected by the ruling include Peter Gyendeng (Barkin-Ladi/Riyom), Musa Bagos (Jos South/Jos East), Beni Lar (Langtang North/Langtang South) and Napoleon Bali (Plateau South senatorial district).

In a recent ARISE interview, Yusuf Gagdi said, “I expect that distinguished senator Bali and the PDP should not fall the heaven simply because judgement was not given in their favour.”
