South African broadcasting service DStv has announced its SuperSport channels will air the upcoming African Cup of Nations, backtracking from the initial announcement that it did not secure broadcasting rights to air the tournament.

“No gree for anybody! Watch all 52 matches of the #afcon2023 on @supersports,” the company said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday.

DStv had last week announced that the company would not broadcast matches from the 34th AFCON scheduled to begin on Saturday over failure to secure broadcasting rights, a decision that did not sit well with football fans especially those in Sub-Saharan Africa.

With less than 72 hours before the opening match, the company has apparently managed to pull off a late deal in order to air all 52 matches of the tournament.

DStv has now joined StarTimes, NTA, AfroSport and other networks that will broadcast matches from the biggest football showpiece in Africa.
