EFCC arrests 27 suspects for internet fraud in Edo

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives have arrested 27 suspected internet fraudsters in Edo State.

In a statement shared on its official X handle, the anti-graft agency said its Benin zonal directorate arrested the suspects on Wednesday at different locations within Benin City.

It read, “Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, computer-related arrested 27 suspected internet fraudsters at different locations within Benin City.”

“The suspects were arrested following actionable intelligence on their suspected involvement in computer-related fraud,” EFCC said.

The agency said operatives recovered N590,000, exotic cars, phones and laptops from the suspects.

The EFCC said the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
