Bisi Kolawole, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the ongoing Ekiti State governorship election, Saturday, said the residents of the state can no longer wait to have him as the next governor.

Mr Kolawole spoke after casting his vote at Unit 01, Ward 8, Efon, in Efon Local Government Area of the state.

He explained that the people of the state need him seriously to change the government in power.

Kayode Fayemi is the incumbent governor of the state and strong member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Kolawole, a political godson of ex-governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose, said he has a bright chance of winning the election and becoming the next Ekiti governor.

He added, “I have a very bright chance to become the next governor of this state (Ekiti) by the grace of God. I don’t have to start campaigning again. We have gone round and canvass for peoples’ votes.

“People are now turning in to vote for the candidate of their choice and is most likely to be me (Bisi Kolawole).

“I want to assure you that the people of Ekiti State need this change seriously. They cannot wait to have me sworn in as their governor.”

He, however, commended INEC for the timely arrival of election materials to the polling units adding that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) being used for the ongoing exercise also help.

The Gazette reports that residents of the state trooped out to the polling units to cast their votes, despite the rain in some areas of the state.

A detachment of armed police officers were also sighted on major roads of the state.
