The All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP) have been accused of vote-buying in the ongoing governorship election in Ekiti State.

Kemi Elebute-Halle, governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), made the allegation shortly after casting her vote at polling unit 08, ward 10 in Ikole Local Government Area of the state.

Ms Elebute-Halle alleged that agents of the APC were buying votes for N10,000 while those of the PDP were doing so with N5,000, and SDP with N3,000 per vote.

The ADP candidate said it was difficult for her to convince the electorates to vote for the candidate of their choice and not collect the money.

“At my polling unit, we were aware that APC has started buying votes for the sum of N10,000; PDP is buying for N5,000 and SDP for N3,000,” she said.

Ms Elebute-Halle noted that she had already raised the alarm to the whole world, stressing that the inducement was being done in “secrecy”.

“We believe in our people that irrespective of whatever they give them; they will still exercise their civic rights and we are expecting a good change,” the governorship candidate said, saluting the Independent National Electoral Commission for a smooth exercise so far.

A total of 16 governorship candidates are contesting in the Saturday election.
