Peter Obi and the Labour Party has presented its sixth witness to the Presidential Election Petition Court  to be cross examined by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other respondents.

On Friday, the petitioners called in Eric Uwadiegwu Ofoedu, Lummie Edevei and Ijeoma Osamor as its subpoenaed witnesses before the tribunal.

During the cross examination, Mr Ofoedu, a professor of mathematics, who had previously tendered 18,088 blurred results that were not announced by INEC, revealed that he analysed election results and IREV reports from just Benue and Rivers States. He said his analysis was based on exact data but the choice of state for analysis was random.

Another witness, Mr Edevei, representing Arise Television and had tendered a video of the INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu briefing at Chatham house in London, informed the court that the relevance of the video was to show that INEC had revealed that they would use technology which included the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and IREV in the election.

Meanwhile, Ijeoma Osamor from African Independent Television (AIT) also tendered a video in which she anchored on the program: Democracy Today on AIT that was live streamed on Facebook and other social media platforms in November 2022. In the video, INEC chairman during interview stated that technology will be used for the 2023 presidential election, while assuring Nigerians that they will have the opportunity to know the election results of various states in real time.

Haruna Simon Tsammani, the chair of the five-member panel of justices adjourned the case for the continuation of hearing until Monday, June 19.
