Armando Broja scored his first goal for Chelsea to help The Blues defeat Diego Costa’s Wolves 3-0 in the matchday nine fixture at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

It was an emotional return for Costa, who gained a fearsome reputation during his three years stint at Stamford Bridge before he left in 2017.

The match is also Costa’s first start since he left Atletico Mineiro in December 2021.

The Blues immediately hit the ground running in the encounter with Conor Gallagher making the first attempt on goal but his effort from inside the 18-yard box went wide off the post.

Moments later, Kepa Arrizabalaga did enough to save João Moutinho’s freekick from the edge of the area to keep the game at bay.

In reverse of action, Wolves goalkeeper, José Sá, pulled off an impressive save to deny Christian Pulisic’s curler from finding the back of the net.

After 12 unsuccessful attempts on goal, Kai Havertz headed Mason Mount’s cross over José Sá, who had left his post to break the deadlock for The Blues as the first half ended 1-0 in favour of Chelsea.

Chelsea had the first attempt on goal in the second half but José Sá denied Havertz his brace of the afternoon and a chance to double The Blues lead.

However, it was not after when Pulisic got his first goal of the season from another assist from Mount to put Chelsea two-nil clear.

It was an emotional moment at Stamford Bridge as Costa received a standing ovation from Chelsea fans when he was substituted for Hwang Hee-Chan in the 57th minute.

Just on the 90th minute time-mark Armando Broja netted his first goal for Chelsea just on the 90th minute time-mark to seal the win for The Blues.

The victory sent Chelsea to fourth on the league table – they are now unbeaten in their last four matches, Graham Potter’s third win in a row across all competitions.
