Former Burnley manager Sean Dyche has been appointed as the new head coach for Everton.

The 51-year-old signed a two-and-a-half-year contract until June 2025, to replace Frank Lampard, who was sacked a few days after Everton’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham two weeks ago.

“Everton Football Club can confirm the appointment of Sean Dyche as the Club’s new Men’s Senior Team Manager,” the club’s statement read.

“Dyche has agreed a two-and-a-half-year contract until June 2025 and will take charge for the first time for the Blues’ Premier League clash against Arsenal at Goodison Park on Saturday 4 February,” the statement added.

Dyche last worked with Burnley until 2022 before he was dismissed by the Championship side, after the club were left in relegation zone with eight games to play in the Premier League in the 2021/22 season. He spent nine and a half years at the Turf Moor.

Burnley were later relegated that season.

He brought Everton to the top flight season twice, with the last being in the 2015/16 season and took them to the UEFA Europa League in the 2017/18 season when they finished sixth in the previous season; it was The Clarets’ first appearance in European competition since 1974.

Shortly after his appointment, the former Watford manager told Evertonfc.com: “It’s an honour to become Everton manager. My staff and I are ready and eager to help get this great club back on track.”

He continued: “I know about Everton’s passionate fanbase and how precious this club is to them. We’re ready to work and ready to give them what they want. That starts with sweat on the shirt, effort and getting back to some of the basic principles of what Everton Football Club has stood for for a long time.

During his time at Burnley, where he was the longest serving manager in English football before he was sacked, Dyche managed 425 games, winning 149 of those, with 158 defeats and 118 draws which corresponds to a 35.1 percent winning rate.

Dyche, who is now tasked with saving Everton from relegation, would be in the touchline when ‘The Toffees’ host league leaders Arsenal in their next match of the league.
