Zhang Guang, former vice-president of Beihang University, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and dismissed from public office for severe Party discipline and law violations.

The decision followed an investigation by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision upon the approval of the CPC Central Committee.

This is according to a statement released by China’s top anti-graft body on Friday.

The investigation involving Mr Zhang, also a standing committee member of the CPC Beihang University committee, found that he had been disloyal to the party.

Mr Zhang allegedly resisted investigation and accepted gifts and money, violating the party’s discipline.

He sought benefits for others during cadre appointments and employee recruitment, accepted money and valuables in return, and violated relevant rules by owning shares in non-listed companies.

According to the statement, he also accepted that others were paying his expenses.

Mr Zhang has also allegedly exploited the University for Personal Gains and resources and taken undue advantage of his position to secure profits for others.

Thus accepting huge amounts of money and valuables in return, the statement added.

According to the statement, Mr Zhang’s actions have gravely breached Party discipline and constitute severe duty-related crimes, and he is also suspected of accepting bribes.

The statement said that Mr Zhang’s illicit gains would be confiscated, and his case would be transferred to the procuratorial authority for further examination and prosecution per the law.
