Former Senate President Bukola Saraki on Sunday penned a widely circulated condolence to the family of late Nigerian lawyer Ayo Odekunle, who passed on Friday.

Mr Saraki, in a statement on his X account, said the late lawyer was of “remarkable character and dedication.”

“Over the years, even though he had relocated to Canada, Ayo’s commitment to good governance and justice in Nigeria, his love for his family, and his passion for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) resonated deeply with all who knew him.

“As an ardent supporter of both myself and our party, whilst he was gravely ill, Ayo continued to embody the spirit of service and engagement that is the cornerstone of our democracy,” said Mr Saraki.

Mr Saraki also announced that he would support the late lawyer’s family through a GoFundMe process initiated by the deceased’s associates. He also urged other members of the public to donate.

“To honour his legacy and support his family during this challenging time, I ask everyone who can to contribute to the GoFundMe account set up in his memory. Your generosity can provide substantial relief and show your solidarity with Ayo’s family. I too, will be doing the same through my foundation (@ABSFoundationNG),” the statement added.
