FIFA U-15 World Cup: Future Eagles draw 2-2 against Jordan

Nigeria’s Future Eagles on Sunday played a 2-2 draw against Jordan at the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in their second Group AD fixture in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Captain Timothy Ijach put Nigeria in front in the 24th minute, but Jordan’s Zinedine Abushaer equalised in the 29th minute.
Abdelrahman Khear made it two for Jordan in the 37th minute, but Abdulrazak Mufutau drew level during the injury time of the first half. Both failed to squeeze out a win as the second half ended goalless.
The result marks Nigeria’s second consecutive draw of the tournament after a 3-3 draw in their opening match against South Sudan, when they scored five goals and conceded five.
The Group AD standings show that South Sudan, Cyprus, and The Gambia are on four points each, while Nigeria has two points, Jordan one, and Pakistan none.
Nigeria will face The Gambia later on Sunday at Hovsan Pitch 6B, Hovsan Competition Complex, in their third group-stage fixture.
The Future Eagles will also play Cyprus and Pakistan on Monday in their remaining group-stage matches.
Under the tournament format, each team’s final group position determines the tier it enters in the next phase, ranging from Tier A for the group winners to Tier F for the teams finishing sixth.
