Four police officers of the U.S Marshals Task Force were killed on Monday at Charlotte neighbourhood, North Carolina while serving a warrant on a felon in possession of a firearm.

Another four sustained gunshot wounds when officers rushed to the scene of shooting for rescue as another person opened fire on them.

“Today we lost heroes who were out simply trying to keep our community safe, ” Charlotte-Mecklenburg police chief, Johnny Jeninings, said confirming the development in a press conference on Monday.

The fourth officer killed in the incident, identified as Joshua Eyer, died a few hours after being rushed to the hospital.
