No fewer than 14 people were injured in South Korea’s city of Seongnam on Thursday night after a young man went on a car ramming and stabbing rampage, officials in the country have confirmed.

According to CNN, the incident occurred at a subway station in the city, where nine people were stabbed at the site after the suspect drove a car into the pedestrian walkway shortly before the stabbing rampage began.

Twelve of the victims were seriously wounded, while two others suffered minor injuries, according to officials of the Gyeonggi-do Fire Services. This latest incident happened only a few days after one person died in a mass stabbing incident in Seoul.

Police said the assailant in the latest attack was arrested barely 10 minutes after he carried out the assault. The media reports him as a man in his 20s with a delivery job and suffering from mental health issues.

Earlier on Friday, a worker was seen at the crime scene cleaning up blood stains as Commissioner of Police General Yoon Hee-keun warned South Koreans to be vigilant and look out for attacks of such similarities.
