In a dazzling celebration of the finest achievements in film and American television productions of 2023, the 81st Golden Globe Awards took centre stage at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday. It witnessed the unveiling of the most outstanding talents in the entertainment industry.

The show hosted by American comedian and actor Jo Koy, commenced at 5:00 p.m. PST / 8:00 p.m. EST and was showed live on CBS.

The prestigious award for Best Movie Drama went to ‘Oppenheimer,’ a gripping tale that delved into the complex world of its titular character. Director Christopher Nolan’s masterful storytelling and vision were acknowledged as he clinched the coveted title of ‘Best Director’ for the same film, solidifying “Oppenheimer” as a cinematic triumph.

The movie drama ‘Oppenheimer’ sweeps five awards at the event. Cillian Murphy won Best Actor in a Movie Drama for the movie drama and Robert Downey Jr also won Male Actor in a Supporting Movie role.

Ludwig Göransson a Swedish composer won the best original score for the movie drama, an award that recognises the composer’s skill in creating a musical backdrop that not only supports the storytelling but also stands out as a unique and integral artistic contribution to the overall production.

Coveting four awards, the television drama series ‘succession’ was next in line.

Best Television drama series, The show explores themes of family dynamics, corporate politics, and the consequences of extreme wealth. It was created by Jesse Armstrong, a British screenwriter and producer.

Mathew Macfadyen, an English actor, won Supporting Male Actor in a television series for the drama.

Sarah Snook an Australian actress won Best Female actor in a television drama. Kieran Culkin, an American actor known for his role in the popular movie ‘Home Alone’ won the best Male actor in a television drama for the series.
