Anas Musa, a chemistry graduate from Federal University, Kashere, Gombe, has appealed to the leadership of the Defence HQ and Gombe government to support his ambition of developing more rockets and even missiles.

He said this would assist the government’s efforts in fighting bandits and other criminals.

Mr Musa, a 29-year-old Gombe indigene, said this in an interview on Friday.

He said his passion for joining the military inspired him to build rockets and explore space technology, contributing his wealth of knowledge to fighting insecurity in the country.

Mr Musa said that though his several attempts to enlist in the military, which required him to sit several Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) examinations, had not been successful, he was determined to pursue his lifelong passion for the military.

He said despite his unsuccessful attempts at joining the military, he is determined never to give up, adding that his passion for rocket building to realise his ambition has succeeded.

According to him, many developed countries, such as the United States, Russia, China, and others, have functional space agencies to harness the potential of space technology.

He said this had helped those countries fight crimes and tackle security changes in record time.

The young scientist said that given the country’s insecurity, a technology-based approach was highly needed, and “this is where I can contribute my quota if I enlist in the military.

Mr Musa said, “I am appealing to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja to help me. Because I have tried over seven times and this year is my last chance and that’s why I am begging.

“I have sat for NDA exams five times before going to Federal University, Kashere, Gombe to study Chemistry and after graduating, I kept applying, even this year, which is my last because of my age, I applied but I wasn’t considered.

“If I get a chance to serve in the army, I assure the defence and army chiefs that within three years, I will bring change in the army especially in ordnance production and missile capacity.”

Mr Musa claimed to have built six rockets and spent over N200,000, which he sourced personally.

Asked what would happen if he failed to join the army, Mr Musa said he would pursue his dream by seeking a scholarship or funding elsewhere.

He appealed to Governor Inuwa Yahaya to support his ambition through funding to help develop more rockets and even missiles to assist the country in fighting bandits and terrorists.
