The Gombe government has procured Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) worth N50 million to treat malnutrition among children in the state.

RUTF is a mineral and vitamin-enriched food specifically for treating severe acute malnutrition.

Presenting the commodity to the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (GSPHCDA) on Monday in Gombe, Mohammed Sale, the nutrition focal person of the budget planning and development partner coordination office, said the government purchased 2,063 cartons of the product.

Receiving the commodity, Abdulraham Shuaibu, the executive secretary of GSPHCDA, commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for prioritising the health sector.

Represented by Maryam Abubakar, the agency’s director of community and family healthcare, he assured that the product would serve its purpose.

He also assured prompt delivery of the commodity to the affected local government areas.
