Operatives of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service have been advised to sharpen their skills in combating crime in Benue State.

The state governor, Hyacinth Alia, gave the charge on Wednesday during the closing of a four-day capacity training at the 72 Special Forces Battalion in Makurdi.

The governor urged the operatives to make themselves visible and complement the efforts of other security agencies in the fight against crime while advising them to respect the rights of law-abiding citizens.

Mr Alia said, “I am sure that the capacity training you have received from men of the 72 Special Forces Battalion has sharpened your skills to face the task ahead.

“I also urge you to make yourselves visible and complement the efforts of other security agencies in crime fighting and, above all, respect the human rights of law-abiding citizens.”

While appreciating the security group for their efforts in ensuring public safety in the state, the governor insisted that they remain instrumental regardless of the challenges bedeviling the state.
