Gov. Buni condoles with Yobe auto crash victims’ families
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe on Monday condoled with the families of 10 persons who died in a road crash in the Fika local government area.
Mr Buni expressed his condolences in a statement by his media aide, Mamman Mohammed, in Damaturu.
The governor described the crash as tragic and unfortunate.
He, however, urged motorists to observe traffic laws and avoid speeding and overloading.
“Motorists on night journeys and in the rains must drive with extra care for their personal safety, the safety of other road users and passengers,” he said.
The Yobe governor prayed for the repose of the deceased’s souls and the quick recovery of those injured in the crash.
“I pray Allah to grant their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” the governor said.
The police command in Yobe had earlier confirmed the accident, which occurred in Bulakos late on July 2.
Police spokesman Dungus Abdulkarim said 10 persons were killed and seven others injured in the crash involving two buses.
The crash was said to have happened around 10:22 p.m. on Saturday near Gashaka along the Potiskum-Gombe road.
