Governor Nasir Idris has approved over N967 billion for sponsorship of 20,908 Kebbi students studying in 36 tertiary institutions across the country.

The Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar-Tunga, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

He said, “The gesture is in line with Governor Nasir Idris’ vision and mission in transforming higher education and his determination to ensure that the youths benefit from the agenda of the current political dispensation by sponsoring students within and outside the country for educational development of Kebbi.

“His Excellency has, therefore, graciously approved the sum of N967.685,854 billion being fees for the 20,908 students for the year 2022/2023 academic session.”

The commissioner commended the governor for the gesture, which, according to him, will allow the youths to prosper intellectually.

Mr Abubakar-Tunga added that it was also a testimony to the governor’s commitment to youth development in Kebbi.
