The Zamfara State government has ordered the shutting down of some select media houses for allegedly violating government order and journalism practice.

In a statement issued on Saturday in Gusau, the Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara, listed the affected media organisations as the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Gusau and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN)’s Pride FM.

According to the commissioner, other media organisations sanctioned by the State Security Council include Gamji TV, Gamji FM and Al umma TV, which are privately operated.

Mr Dosara said that the Commissioner of Police in the state had been directed to arrest and prosecute personnel of the affected stations caught violating the order.
